Tech Tool Evaluation

Present. Me
3 things I like
-It's very easy to use
-You can import it to many things including Powerpoint, Exel, Word, Google Docs, and they convert automatically
-I can use it on my cellphone and view it on my phone
-It can be published as private
-New and different
3 things I don't like
-I don't like that I have to sign up or make an account
-I don't like that I have to pay after 3 months of using it
-I don't like that it takes a while to load
2 ways I could use it
-I think I could use this as a video blog by expressing my ideas and being able to put slides and things like that.
-I could also use it to present another idea like in our science fiction project that we did last year in English class.
Mentimeter
3 things I like
-I think its an awesome and creative idea
-I like that it is in your mobile phone
-I like that you can specify who recieves it and who votes
3 things I don't like
-You can't customize it
-We should be able to add pictures or graphs in the questions
-There could be questions people can vote for that are public
2 ways I could use it
I could use it when taking important decisions either at work or at school, that way everybody has an equal vote and opinion.
-I could also use it in a presentation to make it more interesting and more intruiging

Biometric security

What I know about Biometric security
I don't know anything about biometric security but, I can imagine it has something to do with security.
-What you wonder or questions you have about the topic before researching (at least 2)
  1. 1.I wonder what biometric means or does and why it its important.
  2. 2.I also wonder what it is used for
-Links to where you found the most useful information (at least 2, NOT Wikipedia, although you can use it to help you)
  1. This website I found very helpful because it explained what biometric security is
  2. This website was extremely helpful because not only did it explain in depth it also gave me example of all the types of biometric security systems there are and what they are used for.

-Bullet list of things you learned about the topic (at least 5)
  1. -"Security personnel look for biometric data that does not change over the course of your life; that is, they look for physical characteristics that stay constant and that are difficult to fake or change on purpose."http://www.technovelgy.com/ct/technology-article.asp?artnum=10
  2. -Biometric security systems look for things that don't change or that are difficult to change everybody changes overtime hair color, height, weight etc.
  3. -It is used to measure physical characteristics of a person on an "automated" buisness.
  4. I learned that there are many different types of biometric systems, here is what the website said abourt them
  5. "Face Recognition biometrics security - This is one of the most flexible methods as it can be done without the person being aware that they are being scanned.  This system analyzes specific features that everyone’s face has like the distance between the eyes, width of the nose, position of cheekbones, jaw line and chin to only name a few.
    • Fingerprint Identification - Your fingerprints remain the same throughout your life and no two fingerprints are alike.  This may not work in industrial applications as this requires clean hands and some people may have injury to their prints that prevent proper identification.
    • Hand Geometry biometrics security - This will work in harsh environments, does not require clean conditions and uses a small dataset.  It is not considered as intrusive and is often used in industrial environments.
    • Retina Scan - There is just no known way to replicate a retina and, as far as is known, the pattern of the blood vessels at the back of the eye is totally unique and never changes.  The downside is that it takes about 15 seconds of careful concentration to do a good scan but this still remains a standard one in military and government installations.
    • Iris Scan - This is also very difficult to duplicate and stays the same for your lifetime although it may be difficult for children or the infirm.
    • Signature biometrics security - This type of security is easy to gather and is not physically intrusive.
    • Voice Analysis - This method of security biometric can be accomplished without the person’s knowledge although it is easier to fake by using a tape recording but it cannot be done by trying to imitate another person’s voice." http://www.findbiometrics.com/biometrics-security
  6. I thought it was interesting that there were many ethical concerns about biometric security because people found it intrusive and other reasons.
-A short summary of how this topic connects/relates to you or your life
Everyday to enter the shcool or to get off the buses we have our fingerprints scanned and that is a type of biometric security. Also at our parent's office we also have that security system, I use biometric security systems everyday without even realizing it!
-Questions you still have (at least 1)
What other methods or type of biometric security are still being invented?
Who would have access to our information?

Google Day #3

3 Goals
-Download a newer version of Photoshop onto the computer
-Learn how to put objects or people into other images
-I also want to learn how to change the color of images
Links
This website allowed my to download the new adobe Photoshop for free! I did take quite a while though, but other than that there wasn't any major problems while downloading it.
This video taught me how to make a person/object appear in another image, I had a hard time learning to do this because it requires a lot of attention to detail. Also there was a problem with my photoshop and unfortunately the images I made were lost.
Evidence
Unfortunately the images I made were lost because the program shut down towards the end of class.
But, I did do a picture of my cousin maria and changed her eyes red and here hair blue which was pretty entertaining  Also since she idolizes a soccer player named Sergio Ramos I put her in the same picture with him and it actually looked realistic even if she had blue hair! It took me a long time since I kept messing up do tu being unpatient but, after lots of trys and redo's I finally got it right\. I would like  to create an even better one next class!
Next Class
Next class I really want to work a little bit more on putting objects in other images becasue I find it really cool! I would like to maybe be able to do it more quickly and not have the same time consuming problems I did this time. I also want to learn how to put somebody's face in someone else's face or put someone's face in someone else's body.

Google Day 2

3 Goals
-Learn how to crop images
-Learn how to place an image in another and make it look realistic.
-Learn how to save images I have created
Links With Description of why they are useful to your goals
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6aMbMk9IGoM This link is connor corsby who explains how to crop images and put them in a different backround I really liked it because he compares two tools on how to do it and shares his opinion. I found it sort of difficult to use though, because he was using a different type of photoshop.
2.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AG5EY8ZaFj4
This link teaches how to put an already cropped foto with/in another foto or another back rpund I liked it because the person who taught me (stevie) actually did this for a living, also he showed in a very simple and user friendly manner.
Evidence of what I learned/learned to do and a description of new knowledge or skills
The first photo is the original and the second is the one I edited

The last photo is on another blog post because there was a problem with the program.
Description:
I had so much fun this class making people in photos with other people or blocking people out it was very time consuming and you really need to pay attention to detail but, once you get the hang of it its so much fun!
One thing I want to learn next Google day
I really want to learn to be able to crop photos by using magic wand since it is more difficult. I also want to change the background of original photos

How do I get into a good college?

Links to useful websites
This link was very useful because it was a first hand expierience and it had many perspectives it was very long also.
This website was really good because it was written by an admissions officer.

White hat hacking

What I know about White hat hacking:
Honestly, I don't know anything about White hat hacking. I can infer that it is hacking and it has something to do with white hats.
What I wonder/questions I have about White hat hacking:
I want to know what it is..is it famous for hacking large corporation, people, etc. I also want to know a bit about what it involves (coding or something different).
Links I found most useful:
This website article "Famous White hat Hackers" from http://www.investopedia.com was useful because it gave me a feel to what White hat hacking is, and it also gave me example and I learned about famous White hat hackers(Steve Wozniak, Kevin Mitnick who started off as a black-hat hacker and was even arrested for hacking North American Air Defense Command computer.)
Another useful article I found was more about telling me what is White hat Hacking even tough there was some difficult words, it does give you a much more in depth explanation to what White hat Hacking is.
Things I learned about White hat hacking:
-Steve Wozniak from apple was a famous white hat hacker.
-White hat hackers are usually employed by organizations and companies who need network security.
-White hat hackers are "ethical hackers" meaning they don't hack to do malicious things, they even stop the black-hat hackers from entering/breaking in networks.
-Kevin Mitnick who started off as a black-hat hacker and was arrested for hacking a North American Air Defense Command computer.
-White hat hackers are often assigned to test out the strength of  companies/organization's security.
How this connects/relates to my life:
This all connects to my life because all of the programs that we use on a daily basis were tested on by a White hat Hacker.
Questions I still have:
I want to know about the process of hacking or how to do it.

Google Day 1

Goals
-Be able to crop a person and put them in another image while looking realistic: I completed this goal it was actually much easier to do then I thought it would be!
-Find a photoshop that I can download at home, so I can work on my project at home: I completed this goal it is the last link below.
-Expirement and learn new things about photoshop: I also got to expirement with different backrounds and people it was really cool.
Helpful links
I found this website helpful because it had so many things to learn, it was a little advanced but, I'm sure it will come in handy later on.
This youtube channel was great becuase it had tutorials that were numbered, starting at something easy and gradually getting more difficult. I spent most of my time looking at these tutorials, and then trying them out on the photoshop the computer has.
I also found free photoshop that I can download so I can have it on my laptop. I though this wa useful because it allows me to use photoshop at home.
What I want to learn
I want to learn nhow to save my picture on photoshop because I had trouble doing it this class.I also want to actually start investigating more on video editing because I didn't do it this class!

Google 20%

For our Google 20% project I want to create a video with advanced video editing skills. I want to be able to change the colors, add and change effects of video. I also want to learn to make a video animation that can integrate with a actual video recording. (It might start out as an animation, and then turn into a video.) I also want to able to use "photoshop" in my video, I want to be able to put a person that wasn't in the video and make it look like they're in the same place. I think it would also be helpful to learn to create my own transitions, and my own theme to my video. Also be able to alter sounds, and really perfect basic things like adding music and voice overs.

The way I would like to present my project is by making a video that could tell a story with very advanced video editing skills. My aunt is a photographer so I think she could help and teach me about the actual filming process. I think that this part is also very important, I need to learn how to film well and be able to capture the right angles and know more that I do at the moment. I could also download some sort of program that would allow me to do more advanced things than imovie. The animation part I would have to learn, and I know of some internet websites that teach you.
